Press release on Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s meeting with President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Peter Maurer

Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Peter Maurer on the sidelines of the 77th UN General Assembly session on September 21.

They discussed the parameters of Russia’s further cooperation with the ICRC on a broad range of issues. Mr Maurer’s attention was drawn to the incessant violations of international humanitarian law by Ukraine and the importance of meeting the humanitarian needs of the people of the Lugansk and Donetsk people’s republics. Sergey Lavrov again emphasised the need for more intensive involvement from the Red Cross in resolving the problems of cruel treatment of the Russian POWs being held by the Kiev regime.
