Press release on Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s meeting with Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of the Republic of South Africa Naledi Pandor

On September 22, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had a meeting with Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of the Republic of South Africa Naledi Pandor on the sidelines of the 77th Session of the UN General Assembly.

The parties reaffirmed their mutual interest in deepening political dialogue. Moscow and Pretoria voiced their commitment to effectively coordinating actions on the international scene, including at the UN, BRICS, the G20 and other multilateral venues. In 2023, South Africa will assume chairmanship of BRICS.

The Russian and South African foreign ministers called for further expanding the entire range of relations of strategic partnership between the two countries, including mutually beneficial trade and practical cooperation in the economy, infrastructure and other areas.
