Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s opening remarks at talks with Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Moscow, March 29, 2023

Mr Minister,

Colleagues,

We are delighted to welcome you to Moscow. I would like to congratulate you on the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan.

We have noticed that this is your first foreign trip in the Iranian new year. It is a symbolic gesture and fresh evidence of our active interaction, including political dialogue, trade, economic and investment cooperation, and the implementation of major infrastructure projects.

There is an increasing number of delegation exchanges between our regions and businesses. All this, together with the activities of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, ensures stable and substantial growth of our trade.

We are closely cooperating on international and regional matters. All these issues are on the agenda of our talks today.

I hope we will have a substantive conversation.
