I am happy to be here again. I planned to arrive sooner but, unfortunately, did not manage to do so for reasons that were beyond my control.

This year is special. In December, we will mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between our countries. I think that this is a good occasion to visit Kenya.

Today, we have a good opportunity to discuss the need to develop our relations during our talks with President William Ruto, Foreign Minister Alfred Mutua, you, Mr Speaker, and your parliamentary team. We appreciate the participation of your parliament’s delegation in the Russia-Africa International Parliamentary Conference. We will continue this practice. We are looking forward to the Russia-Africa Summit, which will take place at the end of July in St Petersburg.

During the visit, we will discuss our cooperation in trade, investment and economy, as well as cultural and humanitarian issues, education, cooperation within the UN, and many other matters.

This is a wonderful opportunity to coordinate our steps and outline plans for the future.
