Press release on Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s telephone conversation with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hossein Amir-Abdollahian

On November 3, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had a telephone conversation with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, at the initiative of the Iranian party.

The foreign ministers exchanged views on current developments in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone. Common concern was expressed about the ongoing armed confrontation in the Gaza Strip. The parties stressed the need for an immediate ceasefire and provision of urgent humanitarian assistance to the affected civilian population.

Sergey Lavrov informed his Iranian colleague of Russia’s efforts through the UN Security Council aimed at de-escalating tensions and transferring the situation into a political and diplomatic channel.

A number of other current issues of mutual interest were also addressed.
