Press release on Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Laos Saleumxay Kommasith, Vientiane, October 10, 2024

On October 10, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic Saleumxay Kommasith on the sidelines of the East Asia Summit in Vientiane.

The officials conducted a trust-based exchange of opinions regarding the state of bilateral relations and their prospects. They focused on issues of implementing highest-level agreements, expanding trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian ties and more actively coordinating bilateral efforts in international and regional affairs.

The Russian side positively assessed the development of the Russia-ASEAN Dialogue Partnership during Laos’ chairmanship of the Association in 2024.
