Press release on Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s upcoming working visit to Yerevan, May 20-21, 2025
On May 20-21, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will pay a working visit to Yerevan. There are plans for his detailed talks with Foreign Minister of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan. It is also expected that he will have conversations with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and President Vahagn Khachaturyan.
The contacts will be held in furtherance of the agreements reached at the highest level on October 8, 2024, and following Ararat Mirzoyan’s visit to Moscow on January 21. The agenda will include a discussion of a broad range of issues related to bilateral cooperation, interaction at Eurasian integration unions, and coordination of positions at international venues, primarily the UN. The foreign ministers will have a substantive exchange of views on regional security, including prospects for Armenian-Azerbaijani and Armenian-Turkish normalisation. It has been planned that they will sign the Plan of Consultations between the Foreign Ministries for 2025-2026.
Sergey Lavrov will address teachers and students from branches of Russian universities and the expert community at the Russian-Armenian University and meet with Russian compatriots at the Russia House.
By tradition, he will lay flowers at the Eternal Fire at the Unknown Soldier’s Grave and a wreath at the Armenian Genocide Memorial.
Moscow hopes that the visit will facilitate the strengthening of political and inter-agency dialogue between Russia and Armenia and lead to the growth of mutual understanding and the finding of mutually acceptable solutions to issues of interest for each of the sides.
