Opening remarks by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov during talks with PRC Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Kuala Lumpur, August 5, 2015

I am happy to attend our meeting today. Increasing foreign policy cooperation with the People’s Republic of China is a high priority for the Russian Federation and meets the interests of stability in the world. On May 8-10, we had the pleasure of receiving President Xi Jinping of the People’s Republic of China, who was on an official visit to Moscow. Our leaders also met during the SCO and BRICS summits in Ufa in July. A month from now, President Vladimir Putin, at the invitation of President Xi Jinping, will attend events on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of China’s victory in the war against Japanese militarism. I hope that today we will be able to discuss preparations for this important visit.
