On the meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia S.V. Lavrov with the UN Deputy Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs V. Amos

15 June, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation S.V. Lavrov met with the UN Deputy Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs V. Amos.
Consultations with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation G.M. Gatilov also took place. Satisfaction with the cooperation development dynamics of Russia and the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) was expressed.
V. Amos expressed gratitude in connection with the significant increase of the Russian donor contribution to the multilateral emergency humanitarian assistance within recent years. She also noted the leading role of Russia in the efforts of the international community to negotiate the consequences of large-scale natural disasters and technogenic catastrophes.
Humanitarian aspects in Syria were also discussed in the context of the Syrian crisis. The parties stressed the necessity of gradual implementation of the Humanitarian Reaction Plan accorded with Damascus in order to solve the problems of the population of this country.
The Russian party informed of humanitarian assistance rendered to Syria through bilateral channels.
