In relation to the new remarks of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and other representatives of Iran on the Holocaust and the state of Israel we would like to reiterate the principled position of Russia that was already stated earlier. We consider attempts to revise the well-known historical facts of World War II, in particular, those associated with the Holocaust, unacceptable. That's why Russia became a cosponsor of the recently adopted UN General Assembly resolution, which contains a call upon all states to resist attempts at denying this crime of the Nazis.

Russia regards Israel as a sovereign state having the right to live in peace and security side by side with its neighbors, including an independent Palestinian state.

Speculations on this theme run counter to the principles of the Charter of the United Nations and the opinion of the international community.
