Antifake: The Washington Times: Nord Stream sabotage: Look to Russia, not the US
We are no longer surprised that US propaganda has no notion of decency, ethics or professionalism. But it has turned out that there is no limit to perfection. On December 1, 2022, The Washington Times published an item by Jeffrey Scott Shapiro, titled Nord Stream sabotage: Look to Russia, not the US.
Like many others before him, this journalist has accused Russia of blowing up its own pipelines. This version was taken up in the West immediately after the event. The same is being said about the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, where we are allegedly shooting at ourselves, contrary to any logic. Likewise, there is no logic in this Nord Stream story.
President Vladimir Putin has talked about this many times. Mr Shapiro, who has quoted our president, provided a very strange interpretation. This Washington Times’ “analyst” used the quote to establish a monstrous cause-and-event connection between the explosions on the bottom of the Baltic Sea and the 1999 terrorist attacks in Moscow. According to him, the 1999 bombings were staged by members of Russia’s own federal security service, the FSB, and used as a justification for the Second Chechen War, as a result of which Putin was elected president.
The conclusion is that since 1999 Russia has regularly engaged in state-sponsored terrorism to confuse its opponents abroad and maintain power at home.
According to the journalist, the Nord Stream ruptures sent a clear warning to everyone: If Russia can disrupt its own pipelines, it can destroy others’ too. The arguments this “expert” used could have come from Ken Kesey’s classic novel, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. In other words, they sound imprudent going on crazy.
It is particularly strange that these allegations are being made for the umpteenth time, although the Western media is providing increasingly more evidence of NATO warships’ suspicious activities in the explosion area. These warships were sighted in the right place at the right time. Was this a coincidence? We don’t think so.
This is yet another propaganda campaign orchestrated under a classic script. Moreover, it has been launched at a time when public opinion started leaning towards a clearer understanding of the real causes of the event, which must be precluded by all means, of course.
Dear masters of Anglo-Saxon disinformation, your tall stories are full of holes, and your methods have long become transparent. Regrettably for you, this fake news will do you little good.
